What is the Bee Card?

Yes, cash fares are available on the buses. We ask you to pay with exact change where possible, but we recommend getting a Bee Card as the fare is cheaper.

Bee cards are available from bus drivers or from Hawkes Bay Regional Council. They are $5 each, cash only onboard the bus and can also be purchased from the Regional Council main reception with cash or card. Bee cards are also available online at www.beecard.co.nz for $5.

Bee cards can also be purchased from Hastings Libraries for $20 each ($15 pre-loaded travel + $5 card).

Bee cards can be topped up onboard the bus with cash ($5 minimum), at HB Regional Council or online at www.beecard.co.nz

To enable online top-ups and protect the balance should the card be lost or stolen, Bee cards can be registered at www.beecard.co.nz 

Topping up online at www.beecard.co.nz is best, and you can also top up on the bus with cash ($5 minimum).

If you need help you can visit the Regional Council office in Dalton St, Napier and top up in person.

If you’re planning to travel before 9am or after 3pm on weekdays, to access community connect concessions, you will need a Bee Card.

We highly recommend that you do as this means you can transfer your balance if your card gets lost or stolen.

You will also need to, to link your Community Services Card and activate your Community Connect concession.
